2026 Men's Ballon d'Or - Kane wins Ballon d'Or

Harry Kane

The Details
The 70th Ballon d'Or ceremony took place on 26 October 2026 at the London Palladium, the first time the event was held outside France or Switzerland. For the fifth time in its history, the award was decided on the season rather than the calendar year, covering 3 August 2025 to 19 July 2026.

The Men's Winner
Harry Kane won the Men's Ballon d'Or for the first time in his career. The Bayern Munich forward finished ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal in the voting, after scoring 73 goals for club and country in the 2025/26 season. He helped Bayern win the Bundesliga and reach the Champions League semi-finals, and captained England to third place at the 2026 World Cup.

The History
Kane became the fifth Englishman to win the award, and the first since Michael Owen in 2001. He is also the fourth Bayern Munich player to claim the honour.

The Women's Winner
Barcelona midfielder Alexia Putellas won the Women's Ballon d'Or for the third time in her career, finishing ahead of Ewa Pajor and Khadija Shaw. She became the sixth consecutive Spaniard to win the award, following Aitana Bonmatí in 2025.

The Closer
A first golden ball for Kane, a third for Putellas, and a historic night in London. The wait is over for England's captain.
