Stars in Europe - England - Transfer - Djed Spence moves to Inter Milan

Djed Spence

Djed Spence is heading back to Italy. The England right-back has completed his move to Inter Milan from Tottenham Hotspur, signing a five-year deal with the Serie A champions.

THE DETAILS

Inter are paying a reported €30m (£25.6m) for the 26-year-old, who becomes the second England international to arrive at the San Siro this summer after John Stones joined following his Manchester City exit. Spence had all but confirmed the switch on Saturday with a farewell message to Spurs fans across social media, calling it the end of "a special chapter" and thanking the club, staff and supporters for a journey he'll carry with him forever.

A SPURS CAREER WITH SILVERWARE

Spence joined Tottenham from Middlesbrough in 2022 for an initial £12.5m and made 85 appearances in North London, helping the club lift the 2024-25 Europa League title. He made 44 appearances in all competitions during the 2025-26 campaign, but with Pedro Porro signing a new deal in June and Andy Robertson arriving from Liverpool, the writing was on the wall, even after manager Roberto De Zerbi had said in July he wanted to convince Spence to stay.

WORLD CUP CREDENTIALS

Spence was a regular fixture for Thomas Tuchel's England side at the World Cup, featuring in all eight games as the Three Lions finished third. That kind of tournament pedigree only sweetens the deal for Inter, who now add a proven international full-back to their ranks.

SECOND ITALIAN CHAPTER

This isn't Spence's first taste of Serie A. He spent six months on loan at Genoa back in 2024. This time, though, he arrives with a long-term contract and a place in a title-winning squad.

WHAT'S NEXT

Inter continues to strengthen their English contingent this summer, and Spence slots straight into a champion side with genuine ambitions on multiple fronts. For Spurs, it's another farewell, but for Spence, the new chapter starts now.
