GROUP STAGE - 3RD MATCHES - DETAILS 

 

Mohamed Salah scored in injury time to rescue a point for Egypt away to Nigeria in their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Friday.

It keeps the Pharaohs on top of Group G by two points from Nigeria.

The Super Eagles took the lead on the hour through Warri Wolves striker 

Etebo Oghenekaro but But Roma winger Salah equalised in the 91st minute.

Only the top two teams from each group are guaranteed progress to the next round in the race to reach Gabon.

Ivory Coast moved to the top of Group I thanks to a 1:0 win over Sudan.

Gervinho, who captained the side in the absence of the injured Yaya Toure, scored the winner on 34 minutes.

Gabon beat Sierra Leone in the group's other match.

However, the points from that match do not count because Gabon are hosts of the 2017 tournament and their group games are classified as friendlies.

Youssef Msakni struck the only goal of the game to give Tunisia a 1:0 home win over Togo.

The decisive strike came two minutes after the interval and the result lifted Tunisia to the top of the Group A table, taking over from Togo on goal difference.

In Group M, Mauritania beat The Gambia 2:1 thanks a to a brace by Cheikh Moulaye Khalil.

Mustapha Carayol equalised for visitors The Gambia on the hour mark, cancelling out Khalil's 36th-minute opener.

But Khalil grabbed his second in injury time to give Mauritania three points, which lifts them level with leaders Cameroon.

Swaziland and Zimbabwe played out a 1:1 draw in Group L.

Hosts Swaziland raced into the lead after only two minutes, courtesy of a strike from Felix Badenhorst.

Zimbabwe equalised when Swaziland's Ndokuito put through his own net one minute before half-time.

The result means Swaziland remain top of the table from Zimbabwe.

Both sides have five points but Swaziland have scored one more goal than their rivals.

In the group's other game Guinea and Malawi played out a goalless draw, neither side able to make up any ground on the teams above them - they remain three points off the pace.

Ghana eased to a 3:1 home victory over Mozambique in their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Thursday.

Jordan Ayew scored Ghana's final goal against Mozambique.

Frank Acheampong set the Black Stars on their way with the opening goal after only four minutes had been played.

On 56 minutes John Boye, captain in place of the injured Asamoah Gyan, doubled the lead and two minutes later Aston Villa's Jordan Ayew made it 3:0.

Apson Manjate pulled a goal back for the visitors but Ghana easily extended their lead at the top of Group H.

Earlier on Thursday Madagascar held Central African Republic to a 1:1 draw.

Hosts Madagascar took the lead on 80 minutes through a penalty by Carolus Andriamahitsinoro but they were pegged back with only four minutes to go when Limane Moussa scored the equaliser for CAR.

The result means Madagascar remain bottom of Group B on two points, while CAR move to four points to draw level with leaders Angola.

In Group D Comoros beat Botswana 1:0 in a match that was interrupted because of heavy rain.

The teams were called off after 56 minutes, with the score at 0:0, and the match only resumed once the rain stopped and the pitch had dried.

Three minutes after it had restarted Ben Mohamed El Fardou struck the only goal of the game to earn Comoros a surprise win and their first points of the group stage.

Comoros draw level on points with third-placed Burkina Faso but remain bottom of the table by goal difference. Bostwana stay in second place.

Liberia earned a 1:0 win away to Djibouti in Group A, taking them level with leaders Togo on six points.

Anthony Laffor scored the winner on 65 minutes, leaving bottom side Djibouti still without a point in the group stage.

Benin earn away win at South Sudan

Benin came away from South Sudan with a 2:1 win on Wednesday as the third round of group qualifiers for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations began.

West Brom forward Stephane Sessegnon struck the opener on 16 minutes and Benin added a second on 75 minutes. South Sudan pulled one back late on.

The victory lifts Benin to the top of Group C above Mail who play on Friday.

New Fifa president Gianni Infantino was in attendance after he had inaugurated the South Sudan FA's office.

In Group G Chad hosted Tanzania with both sides looking for their first win.

Tanzania earned a 1:0 victory thanks to Mbwana Samatta's 30th-minute strike. 

It lifted them level on points with second-placed Nigeria, while Chad remain rooted to the foot of the table without any points.

Nigeria take on group leaders Egypt on Friday.

Sao Tome e Principe pulled off an incredible comeback to beat Libya 2:1 in their Group F clash.

Both sides went into the game having lost their first two matches and having scored only one goal apiece.

Faisal Albadri put Libya ahead after 24 minutes but the hosts scored two goals in the last five minutes to snatch victory. An own goal from Eltrbi set them on their way and Dos Santos bit the winner.

It keeps alive their hopes of qualification.

Group rivals Cape Verde and Morocco played on Saturday and Morocco won 1:0.

In Group E Guinea-Bissau lifted themselves off the foot of the table with a 1:0 home victory over Kenya.

Idrissa Camara struck the only goal of the game after 15 minutes to give his side their first win of the group stage.

The top-of-the-table clash between Zambia and Congo ended in a 1:1 draw, moving both sides on to five points with at the summit because of a superior goal difference.

Hosts Zambia took the lead on 60 minutes through Winston Kalengo but it lasted only 15 minutes, Jordan Massengo restoring parity with a goal for Congo.
