A stampede at a football match in the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kinshasa, officials say.

Reports say the trouble began after police fired tear gas in the crowded stadium, causing panic. At least 15 people have been killed and more than 20 people were injured. Local fans were unhappy after the home team, ASV Club, were defeated 1:0 by Tout Puissant Mazembe from Lubumbashi. Stampedes are a frequent occurrence at mass events in the country

The Villarreal striker was not picked by Keshi, despite scoring 12 goals in the Spanish top flight this season. Uche has not played for his country since they won the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa last year. The 30-year-old insists, however, that he holds no grudges against Keshi. "Of course as a professional footballer you'd love to represent your country, but I have never had bad words towards the national coach," Uche is widely regarded as one of Nigeria's most reliable strikers at international level and is one of his nation's all-time top scorers, with 18 goals in 45 appearances, behind Rashidi Yekini, Segun Odegbami and Yakubu Aiyegbeni.

STARS IN ASIA - NIGERIA - CLUB - Ideye moves to China

Tianjin Teda Brown Ideye

 

Brown Ideye has become the latest Nigerian to head to the Chinese Super League after joining Tianjin Teda.

The 28-year-old has left Greek club Olympiakos to sign a three-year deal.

He will play alongside Super Eagles team-mate John Mikel Obi and Gabon international Malick Evouna.

Chinese Super League clubs are on the hunt for new players ahead of the start of the new season next month.

Tianjin Teda finished 11th in the Chinese Super League last season.

Ideye scored 28 goals in 65 appearances for Olympiakos and won the 2016 Greek championship - his first league title in Europe.

Ideye moved to Greece in August 2015 from English club West Bromwich Albion.

He was West Brom's then-record club signing when he joined them in 2014 from Dynamo Kiev, but failed to justify the huge price tag.

Ideye made his international debut for Nigeria in August 2010 and has scored six goals in 27 appearances for the Super Eagles.

In 2013, he helped his country clinch their third African Cup of Nations title, scoring in the 4:1 semi-final victory over Mali.
