Nelson Mandela - Sport pays tribute to former South Africa president

Mandela has been described as the architect of the 2010 World Cup by FIFA president Sepp Blatter, and the head of the football world governing body was correct. 

"You are the true architect of this FIFA World Cup; your presence and commitment made it happen. Now the first African FIFA World Cup is reality," explained Blatter while handing over the trophy to Mandela at a press conference in 2010.

West Ham United FC Cheikhou Kouyate

 

West Ham midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate's red card against Crystal Palace on Saturday has been rescinded by the Football Association.

The Senegalese was sent off in the 67th minute at Upton Park for a challenge on Dwight Gayle, with West Ham leading 2:1 in a game that ended 2:2.

West Ham are sixth in the Premier League table, three points off a Champions League place

Kouyate, 26, will now be available for Saturday's visit of Arsenal.

An FA statement read: "An independent regulatory commission has upheld a wrongful dismissal claim."
