2015 AFRICA CUP - GROUP D - DAY 12 - Mali vs Guinea 1:1

Africa Cup 2015 GROUP D

Mali vs Guinea 1:1

Mali
Goals: 1x

by Modibo Maiga (47')

Guinea
Goals: 1x
by Kevin Constant (15’)

It means lots will need to be drawn on Thursday to decide whether Mali or Guinea, who played out the fifth 1:1 stalemate of Group D, take the other quarter-finals place.

Ivory Coast will be relieved to have avoided the lottery, having gone out in 1988 by that method, as they did just enough to earn the win that guaranteed them passage to the knockout stage for the sixth successive time.

MATCH FACTS

(13’)
PENALTY TO GUINEA

Ibrahima Traore of Guinea lashes a shot and Salif Coulibaly bravely puts his head on it but can only deflect the ball onto his hand.

He would have known little about it but ultimately it was his own header which fizzed onto his own hand.

(15’)
Kevin Constant

The Guinea midfielder Kevin Constant makes no mistake from the spot.

(47’)
Modibo Maiga

Mali is back on track

The West Ham man, on loan at Metz, Modibo Maiga has been Mali's most vibrant player and he cannot miss at the back post to level this up.

Abdoulay Diaby's cross does all the work for him, taking the nearest defender out of the game and the header is powered in.
