Nelson Mandela - Sport pays tribute to former South Africa president

Mandela has been described as the architect of the 2010 World Cup by FIFA president Sepp Blatter, and the head of the football world governing body was correct.

"You are the true architect of this FIFA World Cup; your presence and commitment made it happen. Now the first African FIFA World Cup is reality," explained Blatter while handing over the trophy to Mandela at a press conference in 2010.

Another Senegal international on the move is midfielder Alfred N'Diaye who has joined Spanish side Villarreal from rivals Real Betis in a five-year deal.

Senegalese defender Alfred N'Diaye moves to El Madrigal

Ndiaye, who has also played in France and Turkey, moves to El Madrigal only two years after joining Betis from English club Sunderland.

The 26-year-old helped Betis win promotion to the top flight in the 2014-15 season and to a tenth place finish last season.

Ndiaye scored thrice in 85 appearances for the club.
