Martin Jol's Ahly held by Young Africans

Record eight-time title-holders Al Ahly were held to a 1:1 draw by Tanzania's Young Africans in Dar es Salaam in the first leg of their African Champions League last 16 fixture.

Guided by former Tottenham manager Martin Jol, the Cairo Red Devils took an early lead when Amr Gamal headed in after 11 minutes to give Ahly an away goal.

The home side responded eight minutes later, forcing an equaliser from an Ahmed Hegazi own-goal.

Ahly will host the return leg in Alexandria on 19 April with the winners advancing to the lucrative group phase.
