NATIONAL LEAGUE - EGYPT - ZAMALEK - COACH - Zamalek sack Mido

Zamalek

Ahmed 'Mido' Hossam has had two spells in charge of Egyptian club Zamalek

Ahmed 'Mido' Hossam has been sacked as the coach of Zamalek for a second time after just 37 days in charge of the Egyptian champions.

His dismissal follows a 2:0 loss to their arch-rivals Al Ahly on Tuesday.

It was a second consecutive defeat for Zamalek and means Ahly are seven points clear of them at the top of the table.

Mohamed Salah takes over as interim coach while the club looks to recruit a foreign coach.

Director of football Hazem Emam, who was appointed at the same time as Mido, has also been dismissed.

Mido won his first four games in charge of Zamalek after taking over from Brazilian coach Marcos Paqueta on 4 January.

That was followed by a draw and then the two losses.

He is the third coach sacked by Zamalek this season following the dismissal of Jesualdo Ferreira and then Paqueta.

Zamalek, who are in the second place in the league, take on Florent Malouda's new club Wadi Degla on Sunday.

Mido retired from playing in 2013 and took on his first coaching role in January 2014 when he took over at his former club Zamalek.

During his first season in charge, Zamalek finished third in the league and secured a place in last year's Confederation Cup.

He also won the Egypt Cup, making him the youngest Egyptian manager to win a major trophy

But at the end of July 2014 Mido was replaced by Hossam Hassan following some modest performances and results as well as differences with the club management.
