2015 FIFA CLUB WORLD CUP - CONGO DR - QUARTER-FINAL - TP Mazembe lose again

AFRICAN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2015 TP Mazembe

African champions TP Mazembe were beaten 2:1 by Mexico's Club America to finish fifth at the Club World Cup in Japan on Wednesday.

Dario Benedetto and Martin Zuniga scored first-half goals to put the Concacaf champions in control.

Rainford Kalaba pulled one back for the African champions with two minutes remaining in the first half.

But the Africans were unable to complete a comeback and their tournament ended in disappointment.

Coach Patrice Carteron said: "We were in good form at the end of the African Champions League.

But we arrived here and only had three days to prepare before our opening match.

"We could have used at least 10 days, so we were not match fit for the opener.

This is probably one of the root causes of our losses here."
