A stampede at a football match in the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kinshasa, officials say.

Reports say the trouble began after police fired tear gas in the crowded stadium, causing panic. At least 15 people have been killed and more than 20 people were injured. Local fans were unhappy after the home team, ASV Club, were defeated 1:0 by Tout Puissant Mazembe from Lubumbashi. Stampedes are a frequent occurrence at mass events in the country

The Villarreal striker was not picked by Keshi, despite scoring 12 goals in the Spanish top flight this season. Uche has not played for his country since they won the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa last year. The 30-year-old insists, however, that he holds no grudges against Keshi. "Of course as a professional footballer you'd love to represent your country, but I have never had bad words towards the national coach," Uche is widely regarded as one of Nigeria's most reliable strikers at international level and is one of his nation's all-time top scorers, with 18 goals in 45 appearances, behind Rashidi Yekini, Segun Odegbami and Yakubu Aiyegbeni.

NATIONAL TEAM - ZAMBIA - COACH - George Lwandamina replaces Honour Janza

AFRICAN NATIONS CUP 2017 QUALIFIERS

 

He replaces Honour Janza, who led the side at the Nations Cup finals in Equatorial Guinea this year.

The move comes just a day after Janza lead Chipolopolo to a 1:0 win over Ethiopia in an international friendly.

Lwandamina is the current coach of club side Zesco United, who lie second in the Zambian Super League.

Janza has been given a new role in charge of the Football Association of Zambia's (Faz) development programmes.

The football association is continuing its search for a permanent replacement for Janza and said in a statement: "Updates on the announcement of the new head trainer will be given over the coming weeks."

"FAZ wishes to thank Honour Janza for the work undertaken during his time as coach of the Chipolopolo.

"Janza remains a vital cog in the development initiatives the association continues to pursue in augmenting the development programmes that are taking our football forward and believe that his return to the Technical Department will reenergize the programmes that require his expertise and other stakeholders."

In March Janza told BBC sport that he felt "betrayed" by Faz who announced it wanted to employ a foreign coach, however the association refuted his concerns.
