2015 AFRICA CUP QUALIFIERS - ZAMBIA - GROUP STAGE - 4TH MATCHES - KATONGO THROWN OUT OF SQUAD

AFRICA CUP 2015 QUALIFIERS GROUP F

Zambia captain Chris Katongo has been thrown out of the Chipolopolo squad that is preparing to take on Niger in a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations tie on Wednesday.

He has left the squad after a falling out with the Zambian coaching staff.

The midfielder told BBC Sport that he has left the squad that is training in Ndola but gave no further details.

Katongo came on as a substitute in the 76th minute on Saturday as Zambia drew 0:0 in Niger.

The result leaves Zambia level with Niger on two points in Group F, behind Mozambique on five and top-of-the-table Cape Verde who have six points.

The former BBC African Footballer of the Year was captain in 2012 when Zambia caused an upset to win the Nations Cup in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Katongo is currently playing in South Africa after leaving Chinese club Henan Construction last year.
