AFRICAN CONFEDERATION CUP 2014 - SEMI FINALS - 1ST LEG - SO FAR

AFRICAN CONFEDERATION CUP 2014

Coton Sport vs Al Ahly 0:1

The Red Devils claimed the victory thanks to a second-half strike from attacker Walid Soliman.

The teams traded early scoring chances, with Coton’s Jean Ali denied by a fine save from Sherif Ekramy in the third minute, while two minutes later Walid Soliman went one-on-one with the goalkeeper but missed the target.

In the 34th minute Ekramy made another fine save, pushing away a long rage shot from Manga Mbah, while Amr Jamal put a curling effort direct from a free kick just over the crossbar toward the end of the first half.

The North Africans created the better scoring chances in the opening minutes of the first half, with Soliman and Moussa Yedan missing out on good opportunities to put the visitors ahead.

However, in the 70th minute, Al Ahly finally broke the deadlock in their favour, with Soliman making up for his earlier misses with a powerful left-footed shot that gave the goalkeeper no chance.

Coton pushed hard for an equaliser in the remainder of the game, but found no way past a resilient Al Ahly defence.

The return leg will be hosted by Al Ahly next weekend, with the winners set to face either Sewe Sport (Cote d’Ivoire) or AC Leopards (Congo Republic).
